A Look at Kegel Exercises for Women

One of the best exercises that you can do while you are pregnant and in the months after your pregnancy is the Kegel exercise. These exercises are intended to help a woman to develop and target the pelvic muscles in her body. The pelvic muscles are responsible for holding in the muscles that are in the pelvic area. These muscles include the bladder and colon. When a woman goes through childbirth these muscles are stretched out as they are located near the abdomen which can get stretched out due to the child. By developing the pelvic muscles you’ll be able to have better bladder control in even an increase in sexual satisfaction. Here’s an overview of how some of these exercises can be done.

Step one. Sit calmly on the floor and relax the body. It is important to stay on relaxed in order to accomplish these exercises.

Step two. The goal of Kegel exercises is to strengthen your pelvic muscles. You’ll want to try to hold the muscles for a few seconds and then release them. This is often difficult because you do not want to hold the abdomen or the buttock. The goal is to only focus on the pelvic muscles in the front.

Step three. The easiest way to perform this exercise is to try to contract the pelvic floor muscles in your body. This can be done by concentrating on the pelvic area in trying to squeeze as tightly as possible. You will do this exercise by squeezing and holding the pelvic muscles for a period of 3 to 5 seconds. After holding this for 3 to 5 seconds you will then really and start again. This exercise needs to be performed daily. You’ll start with 20 repetitions and work your way up to 100 or more a day. The more you do the tighter the muscles will become.

Common Tests Used to Diagnosis STDs

If you suspect that you may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease is important that you seek medical attention immediately. Many sexually transmitted diseases can be controlled or treated when treatment is sought in the early stages. When you bring up the possibility of sexual transmitted diseases to your healthcare provider they will likely order a number of different tests to narrow down what sexually transmitted disease you may have contracted. Here’s a look at the various types of testing that can be ordered by healthcare professionals in order to diagnose STDs.

Pap smear. The Pap smear is commonly used to diagnose any type of disease in women. Pap smears can be used to diagnose pelvic cancer or sexual transmitted diseases like chlamydia. Most healthcare professionals require a Pap smear yearly for those that are sexually active.

Blood Test. Your healthcare provider will order a routine blood test to determine a number of sexually transmitted diseases. sexually transmitted diseases that can be diagnosed through blood tests include HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia and even genital herpes.

Biopsy of Fluid. For sexually transmitted diseases that have sores the healthcare provider may order an analysis of the fluids that are found in the soars. This is usually done to diagnose HPV or the human papiilomavirus, genital herpes or syphilis.

Tissue Samples. Tissue samples of other sexually transmitted diseases. Tissue samples are often used to diagnose gonorrhea and chlamydia, genital herpes and sometimes HPV. Tissue samples are usually taking on the inside of the pelvis and are part of a routine Pap smear.

Although testing can help narrow down the number of sexually transmitted diseases many sexually transmitted diseases require that the testing be done when there are flare ups which makes the diagnosis a sexual transmitted diseases a difficult task. It is important to go to a health care provider when you notice any strange discharge or lumps and bumps.

Frequent Sex Helps Women’s Health

Many married women use health complaints as an excuse to avoid sexual intimacy with their spouse. Anything from headaches, to backaches, to infections (real or imagined), to insomnia is used as an excuse. What those women don’t realize is that what they are trying to avoid may be the very cure for those things that are bothering her.

According to a study done by a woman gynecologist, women who have frequent sexual intercourse with their husbands are much less likely to have any of the problems that women complain to their gynecologists about. In this study, which included 3,000 women of various ages and racial backgrounds, a thorough review of their sexual life and medical history was performed. In the cases of women who had frequent sexual relations with their husbands, 90 percent less problems were reported. According to her study, to gain this advantage requires sexual intimacy at least three times per week.

However, these same results were not found in cases of single women, or women who had sexual relations with men that they were not married to. It appears to be a health benefit that’s reserved only for married women.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to these results; however, the greatest possibilities are increased lubricant production in the vagina and orgasm induced relaxation. Stress related illness has long been an area of scientific medical study. Sexual orgasm is the greatest relaxant known to mankind. This relaxation allows the body to purge itself of toxins and bring the body’s chemical levels into balance.

To achieve the results mentioned in this study, it is necessary that the woman have an orgasm. Sexual intercourse without orgasm is likely to produce the opposite effects, increasing tension, and all the symptoms which can be related to tension. So ladies, take your medicine, it’s good for you.

Prostate Cancer

Although not commonly talked about, prostate cancer affects almost half the male population over 60 years of age. It is the third most common cause of death from cancer in men. This compares to one of the most publicized types of cancer, breast cancer for women, which affects only about 10 percent of women. While it would be inappropriate to take any of the attention away from research breast cancer, we seem to have overlooked a larger problem.

The prostate gland is located in the man’s pelvis, wrapped around the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the penis). This walnut sized gland is responsible for production of seminary fluid.

The exact cause of prostate cancer is unknown, although there are several prevalent theories. One theory is that it is caused by high dietary fat intakes, and the increased levels of testosterone that can be caused by this elevated level of dietary fat. Another theory is that prostate cancer is caused by lack of sufficient sexual release, causing “old” seminal fluid to remain in the gland, infecting it.

The theory that prostate cancer is caused by excessive dietary fat can be backed up by the fact that prostate cancer is essentially unknown in vegetarians. There has also been some success in treating victims of prostate cancer with a diet high in fruits and vegetables, and low in meats. On the other hand the theory that prostate cancer is associated with lack of sexual release comes from the fact that a lower percentage of men who have healthy, frequent sexual relations with their wives suffer from prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is easily detected, although most men never bother to be tested. The test consists of a combination of factors, including a rectal exam to detect enlargement of the gland, and a PSA test to detect heightened levels of the prostate specific antibody in the bloodstream.

Teen Girls Reluctant To Finish the HPV Vaccine Shots

Many doctors are recommending that young women receive the HPV vaccination in order to protect women’s sexual health in the future. However, this series of three shots has created somewhat of a problem within the health community. While young women often rush to clinics and doctors to receive the first series of shots, many do not return for the second or third set. In fact, the numbers are astounding.

The HPV or human papillomavirus vaccine is a series of vaccination shots that are recommended for young women between the ages of 11 and 26. The shots are to be delivered by a health care center every three months for a period of nine months. The series of shots are believed to protect women against 80% of cervical cancers out there. With such a high probability of being protected from a serious form of cancer it is hard to believe that women are not finishing their series of shots.

In a recent study conducted by a major university they polled 3,294 women who started the series of HPV shots. These women came from all different races, backgrounds and areas. The study showed that of the women that were followed over 50% of the women received their shots later then the recommend time for them. Over 14% of the women did not complete the series of shots at all.

So what would cause the majority of the women to receive their shots later then the recommended date?

It is believed that the major contributing factor was the issue of insurance. Many of those that received the shots later were on public health care insurance plans and many did not know if they would have coverage when the next set of shots came up. Another factor that came up was that many of the women reconsidered receiving the vaccination and were unsure about finishing the dosage.

HIV: Why You Should Get Tested And the Stats That Will Shock You

If you were asked right now by a health care provider whether or not you knew without a doubt that you did not have HIV, would you be able to answer yes? A shocking number of Americans, over 55%, have never been tested for HIV or even considered getting tested. This number is troubling to many health care providers because of that 55%, 23% of the Americans are at a high risk for carrying the HIV virus. It was not until the HIV virus turned to AIDS did those that carried the virus know that something was wrong and by then medical treatment is very limited.

There are many reasons that it is recommended that people who might be at risk for HIV get tested. Here is a look at some of the many reasons that those at risk for HIV should get tested.

Less Chance of Spreading HIV. Those that know that they have the HIV virus take the necessary precautions not to spread the virus to others. If a person is not tested they are more likely to spread the virus without knowing to others which could cause HIV to become an epidemic. In fact, it is believed that almost 98% of HIV cases were preventable had the person who had HIV known they carried the virus they would have taken the precautions not to infect others.

Catching the HIV virus Early Can Lead to Better Medical Care. When HIV is caught early enough there are plenty of HIV drugs and medications that can help prolong the life of those that suffer from it. These drugs can help give a person with HIV a better quality of life than those that did not take the drugs. It is important to get tested so that if you do carry the HIV virus you can get the necessary medical treatment.
